Soulwinning

Christ’s last command before He ascended to Heaven is found in Mark 16:15: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Every person has an eternal soul, and it is our privilege and responsibility to share with them the good news of salvation.

Recently, on a Saturday morning, I went soulwinning with my three-year-old daughter, Annalene. As we knocked doors, she asked if her job could be to carry the tracts. After she managed carrying the tracts, she asked if she could ring the “ding bells” at each door.

In celebration of the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible, members of Lancaster Baptist Church and students of West Coast Baptist College passed out over 10,000 copies of the New Testament. The blessings from this effort were great. Many more people were saved during this effort than during the same time last year.

We often preach about the obligation of every believer to be involved in missions. It is not difficult to find a text to emphasize this truth. There is much in the Bible that demands that the Gospel be preached to every person in every generation.

Different ministries are able to reach different people, and God loves all people. In the decades at our church, God has done miracles in the lives of people through the different ministries of our church.

Jesus often ate with unsaved people. He ate with unsaved religious rulers, and He ate with tax collectors and sinners—the unsaved social outcasts. He related to people over breaking bread and displayed the trait later in the New Testament called “given to hospitality.”

In Mark 16, the disciples were at an obvious transition in their lives. They had sat at the feet of Jesus and now they were receiving instruction from the Lord Himself.

Psalm 126 is a post-captivity psalm. It was penned after the Jews made their long return back to Jerusalem. It was written at a time when the nation of Israel was excited about what God had done for them.

When I was a young teenager I knew that there was much work to be done for Christ, and it seemed right and reasonable to volunteer to serve God in whatever way that He saw fit.

The word multitudes in verse thirty-six means “throngs or large numbers.” The word plenteous in verse thirty-seven is defined as “great, large, and abundant.”

The blind songwriter, Fanny Crosby, was asked if there was anything worse than being blind. She replied, “Yes, to have sight and no vision.”

Missionaries have different ways they like to present their work. I believe the most effective way to do this is through your preaching.

The ministry, by definition, is about people. While it is true that we oftentimes (of necessity) get encumbered with details of work and administrative tasks, ultimately, the ministry is about people.

Christmas is one of the easiest times to invite people to church! But in the busyness of the Christmas parties, programs, and preparation, it’s all too easy to lose this golden opportunity to lead others to Christ.

How do you know if you really believe something is true? Is it because you say you believe it?

I leaped off the fence and grabbed him by the neck twisting him to the ground as I had seen the boys do in the moments preceding.

The command to go soulwinning includes an action verb—“go.” But soulwinning is more than a weekly activity. A true soulwinner will develop habits of becoming soul-conscious.

We can view others as people to be loved, tools to be used, or scenery to be passed over. But when Jesus saw the multitudes, He did not lose their individual worth in the crowd.

These four types of people are a picture of the effectiveness of how co-laboring together and tag-teaming are essential in bringing people to Christ.
